Pokémon: Mega Evolution Experience
The Brief
Pokémon wanted to create a world-class touring activation to bring the magic of Mega Evolution to fans across the Americas. The experience needed to launch at San Diego Comic-Con, then travel to AniMole in Mexico City and Brazil Game Show in São Paulo while maintaining the same level of craft, immersion and brand authenticity at every stop.
The Manual was tasked with designing a fully cohesive narrative journey that felt fresh, interactive and unmistakably Pokémon. It needed to be visually striking, scalable for international touring, and capable of standing out within three of the biggest convention environments in the world. Most importantly, it had to bring fans deeper into the Pokémon universe in a way they hadn’t experienced before.
What we did
We designed and delivered the Pokémon Mega Evolution Experience a mission-based adventure that brought Mega Evolution to life through storytelling, custom technology and rich physical design. Working closely with the Pokémon team, we developed the full narrative, crafted all artwork in-house and built a standout booth that we activated at San Diego Comic-Con, AniMole and Brazil Game Show.
Fans began by registering on iPads and receiving their personalised Mission Pass, which became their guide through the experience. They then explored a series of immersive spaces including The Observatory, where a custom LED night sky revealed their chosen Pokémon, and The Gallery, a museum-like showcase featuring hand-built 3D Mega Stones and plushies. At each stage they collected stickers to mark their progress, building anticipation as they moved through the journey.
The experience concluded in our Mega Evolution Lab, where guests received a Mega Evolution wristband and filmed a personalised green-screen video of themselves evolving their chosen Pokémon a moment that fans shared enthusiastically across social channels.
We partnered with trusted teams in the US, Mexico and Brazil to bring the booth to life at each event, ensuring the same level of craft, atmosphere and excitement every time. The activation became a fan-favourite at all three conventions, drawing huge crowds and delivering a truly memorable Pokémon experience.
